Johnson's Diner was the vision of Mrs. Lillie Johnson. This vision started back around 1955 with the opening of Johnson's Sandwich Shop. Which was located on Westmoreland Drive. This popular local eatery was once  for serving some of the best hamburgers and ice cream sodas in town. his sandwich shop was  Husband Willie's first attempt at the restaurant business.

In 1962, the sandwich shop closed, however the Johnson's know this would not be their last chance at entrepreneurial success. In October 1963, Mrs. Johnson, with the help of Willie and children return to her true calling, preparing "soul food to please the taste." Since opening day, the Johnson's and their staff have served many customers faithfully and diligently in the Central Florida community. Over the years, the Diner has become a haven for all who crave good old-fashioned, home-cooked meals.

Johnson's Diner has catered for Darden Restaurants, the City of Orlando, Orlando Regional Healthcare and the Sacramento Kings as well as many other individuals and groups. two The Diner has also been the subject of a halftime special during the 1992 NBA playoffs with Golden State Warriors, featured on BlackVoices.com and the subject of local and national publications.

Mrs. Johnson is no longer capable of personally continuing what she started. That legacy was placed in the hands of her daughter, Earlean Taylor. With the death of Mrs. Earlean Taylor, the grandchildren of Mrs. Johnson is now running the everyday operations of the business. Are you ready for some catfish?
