Championing Tomorrow's Achievers
Conecuh County Training School Alumni Association, Inc. (CCTSAA, INC.) recognizes the benefit of education as a tool to create economic equity for the residents of the communities we serve.
CCTSAA, Inc. has made a $30,000/10 year scholarship commitment to provide an opportunity for youth to be full participants in tomorrow's economy.
Since 2004 CCTSAA, Inc, has invested more than $6,000 in its scholarship program, providing six awards. Scholarships have been up to 1,500 per person. Once a student receives a CCTSAA, Inc. Scholarship they are eligible to reapply for an award every year of thier undergraduate education.
You may apply for a CCTSAA, Inc. Scholarship if you are: * The son, daughter, granddaughter, grandson, niece or nephew of a lifetime member ($100) of the Conecuh County Training School Alumni Association, Inc.
* A high school senior who meets the criteria listed on the following pages (4) The four pages that follow, include instructions for completing application.

Eligible Candidates **High School senior **Have a minimum 2.5/4.0 **Demonstrate financial need **Plan to attend any 4 year accredited college/university **Have or are participating in some community service in the past year **Are registered to vote if 18 years old as of date of the application ** Currently attending high school
Application Requirements (use this section track what you have done to complete the application) ____Complete the application form. ____Transcript. Applicants must submit a current high school transcript. ____Written responses to application questions. ____Copy of letter of acceptance (when received). ____Copy of voter registration (if registered). ____Letters of recommendation. Applicant must have two letter: one from a teacher or professor or counselor/advisor and one from a community leader. Use the form included in the application.
Deadline
1. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all required materials, including the letters of recommendation are received by the application deadline. 2. The application deadline for receipt of all materials is the close of business, May 31, 2009. No applications received after that date will be reviewed. 3. Applications lacking any required information will be considered incomplete and discarded.

What happens after you submit your application? A team of CCTS alumnus will review all applications and determine whom they want to call in for an interview. Calls to schedule interviews will be made during the first week in June. Interviews will take place during the second Saturday in June at 1: 00 P.M. at the old school site on Reynolds Avenue. Decision will be announced by June 30, 2009.
Directions **Make sure your name is at the top of each page. **Type or clearly write all information. **Remove the pages of information and directions and submit only the pages you complete. **Complete all areas of the application. **Submit all required information by the deadline. **Read and sign the disclosure.

General Directions: ***Answers must be typewritten. ***Make sure your name is at the top of the page ***Answer as succinctly as possible. The Scholarship Review Committee is looking at the quality of your thinking and the quality of your response. ***Remember to check spelling and grammar. ***Use at lease a 12-pt font and 1 inch margins. Note: The thoughtfulness of your answers can differentiate you from other applicants.
Page (3) Three High School Seniors Writing Requirement:
Answer 3 of the following questions. Use only 1 page for all 3 of the questions that you have selected. 1. Describe one event that was part of your decision to attend college and why that event was significant to you. 2. Describe one person who has influenced your decisions to attend college and how their influence has impacted you. 3. Who is one person from history that you would like to meet? Why? What is one question you would ask them and why? 4. What is one long-term goal you have? How will the process of working toward that goal improve the quality of your life or the lives of those around you? 5. What will be your biggest challenge your first year in college? Why? How are you preparing to deal with it. 6. What has been your biggest challenge in life and what did you/are you doing to deal with it? 7. Why should CCTSAA., Inc. invest in you? 8. What is one story from the current news that is impacting your career plans? Why and how?
SECOND WRITING REQUIREMENT
Instead of the usual "tell us what you want to be when you grow up" type questions, or an essay, this year we are asking you to write the Scholarship Committee a letter. Share with us what you've learned about yourself during your high school years. Tell us a current challenge you are facing and how you're dealing with it and also tell us a time when you were surprised.
